You reminded me of an old improv exercise we used to practice. It's called the "Yes, and...". In a nutshell, you build a scene by agreeing with your fellow actor, starting each sentence with "Yes, and...". What that does is it keeps the flow of the action. I think it's the same in real life. :-)
