Mmmm... If you write with an algorithm in mind you'll churn out algorithm-friendly drivel. Sorry for being blunt but writing, as an art, is a creative activity, that starts inside the writer. That means, it starts as an individual act. It can be done collectively, but it starts from within. Algorithms don't care for your craft. They only care about numbers.

Finally, there isn't and there shouldn't be an either/or in writing. It should be both/and. You can be both a lifestyle writer and a thriller author.
