Atget’s eye had evolved during his career. By the 1920s, his style had become fine-tuned. Like most artists, the constant engagement with his craft had allowed him to home in on what resonated with his sensibilities. He had been so immersed in his project to document Paris that he hadn’t been aware of how avant-garde the images were at that moment.
