A barren wasteland at the bottom, the soils no longer sturdy with roots from the less important. The tall tree’s efforts to grow its ever consuming canopy had created a paradox. The roots were weak, underestimating the support needed from the bottom. With a dwindling count of trees around, the symbiotic ecosystem was far too out of balance. As nature does, it simply did. A breeze, like any other, stirred. The tree, too big to fail, felled.
