Women are not traditionally part of a Sema yet these two women transcended stereotypes and dogma in their communion. It is said that it is not the whirling dance that induces the ecstasy of joining with the divine but rather that it is the meditators’ ecstasy, what they bring, that arouses the dance allowing it to be a doorway, a crossing.
