“Adult giraffes sleep around 4.5 to 5 hours per day, but their sleep is broken up into short intervals. Most of these intervals last only a few minutes. They often sleep standing up to stay alert to potential predators. However, when they enter deeper sleep, they lie down with their heads resting on their bodies. They do sleep in short bursts that could last a few minutes at a time.”
