Do remember that he wrote in Spanish. The transition from my mother tongue to yours is always painful. Spanish sentences run for miles. Plenty of subordinate clauses and linking elements. Adjectives aplenty. Adverbs have a life of their own, creating colonies (adverbfully!) as if they had their own country or nation.

By the way, kudos to the translator. Borges is not easy. :-)
